Sad sad story

Well, yesterday night I filled Ferdinand's tank up, it was really full then. AT night my cat drinks out of his tank, she's done it with all my bettas tanks for a long time. Well around noon I was going to feed Cheng and Ferdinand because I had forgotten to this morning. I looked in Ferdinand's tank, and he was nowhere to be seen. I looked all over the floor, thinking he had jumped out of the tank since it was so full. He wasn't on the floor, no body. I was sad and scared at this point. I figured maybe though he was hiding somewhere. I probed the whole tank with my hands. No Ferdy. All I can figure is that my cat either ate him while she was drinking from his tank because he swam by her a bunch last night, or he jumped out and then she ate him. Either way I am sad and disapointed because I only had him for a month and he was so sweet. I don't blame my cat, she didn't know any better, but I am still sad. So rest in peace beautiful friend.

OH NO!!! :'( Cats and Fish rarely go together. :( I'm so sorry!! I think you should avoid the F names for now, like A names for me. My dog, my 1st Betta, my grandma's dog, etc. I wish for the best... :(

I would say get or make covers for your tank and a squirt bottle so next time the cat is near the tank squirt it. I spank my rats when they sit on the fish tank because they know better than to screw with big rat.

I'm so sorry. I have to use shipping tape to tape my lids on because one of my cats likes to drink from my tanks.

Sorry for your loss. It is sad when one loses a pet. I hope your other fish are well and that you continue to do your best for these lovely creatures.

That being said, use this as a learning experience. You should always have a lid on your betta tanks because even if they do not display jumping behavior, they do tend to spontaneously jump to their deaths. Additionally, it is not good to allow another animal to use water from your tanks because they can spread bacteria to the fish and potentially eat them. Animals are animals and have their instincts...
