Loaches?

So I purchased a marimo moss ball from Petco a week ago. I am now preparing for a possible snail invasion, because I did not rinse the moss off before I put it in the tank. *face desk*

There was an article about algae eaters on Petco's website. They talked about snails, and how if you purchased live plants you probably got some. (The tank I got the moss from did have snails in it!) The then said that clown and skunk loaches are snail eating fish.

So I was wondering if I could add a clown or skunk loach to my tank. Do they need to be in schools?

However, I fear that I have already reached the max of my 10 gallon. I have 7 females (bettas) in that tank.

Any helpful advice? Thank you.

EDIT- Clown and Skunk loaches get way to big for me to house them. Any other fish or invert that help me out?

Assassin Snails may be a good option.

I have thought about them, but I'm not exactly sure. Ever since my dad changed the filter cartidge we had, my cycle has been off. I'm afraid that if I did get assassin snails that would die if that happens again.

Thanks for the input, though!

Nerite snails are the best algae eating snails by far, but your 10 gallon is already stocked to the max. :$

I just bought a couple assassin snails and they have cleaned up my snail problem in just two days...they are awesome!

Yes, it is =/. I heard that adding live plants though can relieve SOME of the bioload. My plan isn't to stuff as many fish in a 10 gallon as I can. The seventh fish I got looked like she really needed saving, so I got her. I'm hoping buy the time another fish catches my eye I'll have a 20 gallon of something larger than the 10 g.

What do you feed them when the there is any more snails? I think I read that they eat fish poop, algae, algae waffers, and uneaten fish food.

Thank you everyone!
