Bettas and Shrimp and Marimo ball

We recently put our betta in to a 3 gal tank We have a marimo moss ball. and I would like to add something else to the tank I know there are not many fish options but I thought may be some small shrimp of some kind. DO shrimp do well with Bettas will they eat my Marimo Ball ? Thought the girls would enjoy watching a couple scuttle around the bottom of the tank. (we are hoping to add a few more plants soon) Suggestions please I would like something that stay small since its only a 3gal tank.

Shrimp eat junk off the Marimo. Some ghost shrimp are good. How many Betta are in the 3 any more than one is overstocking?

You could try some ghost shrimp but now some Bettas do find them a nice snack so be careful if you get some that the girls know this. No I dont think they would eat the moss ball. Anacharis is a good plant for a beginner .

Thanks for the info We had ghost shrimp before in another tank but they did not live long they came from walmart and I dont think they were all that healthy to start with. the girls want to put something else in the tank but I know more fish probably are not an option with a 3 gallon.

thanks for the information we might get a couple to try. are there any other type of small shrimp they do good with. I wonder if this guy would eat them. He seems fairly calm mostly likes to hide behind his cup or the pump. I hope he gets friendlier over time.

cherry shrimp are beautiful too but harder to find. I know, I'm trying to find some myself for my Nix's 2.5 gallon.

Bettas are equal opportunity snackers generally. Some of them will eat anything you try to put in the tank, others won't touch them. And sometimes you'll have a shrimp or snail in with them for months until one day they disappear :P

My betta has been with an apple snail. I would reccomend a second tank in case he is a snacker. A Amano shrimp works it is a little risky.
