Picking a mate for Quantum

My betta, Quantum Singularity, is a purple copper/red butterfly delta. I'm thinking of breeding him in the next few months, and I'd like some suggestions of what kind of female to look for. My ideas so far are:
1. opaque white halfmoon
2. copper halfmoon
3. red butterfly halfmoon
4. cambodian haflmoon
Any ideas?

Really bad cell phone pic, but gives you a general idea.

What kind of goal do you have? I assume your trying for HM's but did you want to keep his copper or not. Iridecence are hard and if you want copper I suggest you breed to only copper he will throw a lot of reds anyways and what ever other colors he is hiding, probably blue too. Also how much are you willing to pay for a female? And can you get a pic of him flaring even if its blurry it gives a better idea of how far off HM he is.

+1 Creat

I'm waiting for "your goal"

white opaque = platinum and other colors
copper = mostly copper and few irid colors
red /cambodian = red fins and red-irid colors ..... not really a good mix.

I'd like to preserve his purple copper color: I haven't been able to find a fish that color before or since. I know he is hiding blue, since in person he's a really pretty purple. I LOVE coppers and reds, and both (especially combined with white) are pretty uncommon but popular 'round these parts, so finding homes shouldn't be much of an issue. As far as price for a female, $40 is the upper limit. Could probably go to $50, but she'd have to be pretty amazing! She doesn't have to be any of the colors I listed, those were just my first thoughts. :)

Mr. Goofy was not being cooperative tonight, but I tried to clean the pic up as much as I could. Not all of him, but I at least got his tail! He's just your average delta, fin wise. I am hoping for some halfmoons, but I'm not too concerned about getting the "perfect" betta: I know I'm not gonna have any show winners!

I'm thinking I should just breed my salamander HMPK instead... He's much better, fin/form wise. Full HM spread, definitely some DT ancestry based on that HUGE DT dorsal, gorgeous color. And I already know what to breed him with. :D Amazing quality, IMO, considering he came from Petco. I've gotten two bettas from Petco, both PK: Nova, the salamander, and Angel (RIP) an opaque white HMDTPK. They do get some lookers, you just have to keep your eyes peeled!

Well its all about what you want to do. I would recommend if you did want to breed Quantum you might want to go with a OHM (or rosetail) copper marble female. It might take a few generations but potentially you could throw plenty of nice fish.

She is a butterfly but an okay example http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/aucti...shm&1349122805 (also not enough rays for your male)

Your best bet would be crossing him to a green/turquoise or another metallic color (if you can't find a copper female). Though the green would be dominant, but you will get some coppers.

Form wise, I totally agree with Creat.
