Betta sucked into the filter

He just looks so awful. He probably can't even swim. I don't like to medicate unless something is wrong so we will just wait and see.

methylene blue is very mild. its usually used to prevent fungus when hatching fry eggs. so more of a preventative medication. he wont even feel it....
I really dont recommending to wait and see. preventing an infection is much easier than trying to treat one after it happens :(

Can I find it at Petco and is it cheap? I'm a struggling college student.

He made it through the night and mom said he made a bubble nest. So I'm guessing that's a good thing that he's feeling well enough to breed. I'm dreading going home and seeing my poor baby.

it's usually not too expensive... and the doseage is small like 1 drop/2 gallons.
usually it's a product.. I cabt thonk of any, but the LFS sells the plain stuff

He's in a 1 gallon tank so I'm not sure how I'd dose that...

simple lol.. scoop some water in a cup. add one drop.
mix
pour half the cup in qt... dump the rest :P

when will u get back? if he's doing ok with th aq salt and his wounds healing, it may not be needed after all.

Thanks everyone for their help and concern, unfortunately I just talked to my mother and she thinks he has passed. I was stuck in traffic for 2 hours and couldn't make it home in time.

yes he did create the fishes and if nyou read a lil above that 1-26 or1-27 Gen, he also gave us dominion over them. so take care of ur bettas lol

Sorry that happened Lizzy. I use sponge pre filters now on all my filters to prevent betta from getting sucked up, they also add some bio filtration. I also learned by an accident yesterday about have high a betta can jump and now have a fixed all spots where they can jump out of a covered tank at the back.

I have fun bettas that have found a way to jump out of there containers and fall to tile floor almost 5 feet find them not completely dry,but dyhydrated, and hair and dirt all over them, all I did was get a BOWL put in about 1/2 inch of water over them, and place small air stone in water to keep it moveing ,a squirt of stress coat , always 1 tablespoon of salt to every gallon and most have recovered completely in 48 hours, or there dead in a few hours if not dead already. have faith ,they dont call them fighters for nothing.
