When Babies Get Color

At what age do betta fish fry actually start getting their full color? My baby is probably about 7 weeks old and only has some hue, mostly red to the fins but at what age can I start to see what the full adult colors will be? I'm really excited because sometimes I see blue or purple on the baby but I'm not sure. When I first got it it seemed to have blue hue on it's body but it's hard to tell with those dark grey stripes unless you put it in bright light.

My babies didn't finish coloring up until about 2.5 months old :) They are really fun at this age, it seems like every time you look at them they're bigger and more colorful :P

Sweet, I estimate my baby is about 7 or 8 weeks old so maybe those colors will start getting more vibrant and noticeable in the next few weeks. I can't wait to see what s/he becomes. It's like the slowest opening of a Christmas present ever and the greatest reward with a beautiful healthy betta. My baby already seems like s/he has gotten bigger. I looked at Nix today and at Nix's tank. When I first put Nix in the tank s/he looked tiny but not the tank is starting to look tiny.

That's what I'm wondering. I bought a tiny tiny girl at Petco that i'm thinking might be a juvenile, but she's pretty brown and drab aside from a hint of red on her fins.

Same here. I was just at Petco earlier today and there were some super tiny fry that were seriously bright - body & fins. One was crazy dark blue & another was a pure white beauty. Those babies are about half the size of mine. I swear they were about the size of a dime.

Those are probably alot older than they look...
mostly stunted growth due to being shipped and kept in cold water...

Do you think mine will ever colour up then? :s
I've had her for about a month now and she doesn't seem to be getting any brighter or bigger.

Yeah mine is about 7 to 8 weeks from petco, do you think it just takes longer for them to color up because of the poor care they received? Also do you think that my baby might end up stunted from shipping her to petco (and the fact s/he was in very cold water when I got him/her.)
