Humane euthanization?

What is the most humane way to euthanize/cull bettas? I've read on certain pages to freeze them, flush them, chop them, put them in clove oil and vodka, ect. I'm definately not going to do anything of the sort, but I thought it would be good information to have.

Clove oil does seem like the kindest way to do it, it makes them fall asleep first so they don't feel anything.
