Neosporin for fish???

I was in walmart and started chatting with a customer about the fish. She mentioned that she'd been told (don't know who) that if fish (not necessarily bettas) got injured, you should remove the fish and put neosporin on the cut.

I'm new to fish keeping, but this sounded all sorts of wrong - handling a fish and rubbing neosporin on their open wound. I told her it sounded wrong to me.

Anyone here ever hear of this?
