Im Back with some updates and questions!

Hey everybody!

I am back after being very busy!

Honeycomb has been doing FANTASTIC! And MR. Puffles, my moss ball, hasnt given me any issues! "he" actually grew big enough and split into 2 MOSS BALLS!! So, now i have two furry puffs of alage :D

My question:

Honeycomb is having torn fins again *sigh*

Despite frequent water changes, and some topical remedies, his fins grow back only to be torn again. He absolutely LOVES flaring at himself, and wont stop. This is my only idea as to what has been tearing his fins, as i have silk plants. I tried baffling the filter, and that didnt do me anything.

It is in a crescent shape, so i am assuming tail-biting. He gets 4 pellets, and bloodworms once a week as a treat.

I have tried everything, rearanging the decor, like i do every week, but more frequently, and i even took the aqaurium backgroud down(he seems a little bit calmer).

I had the background up for 5-6 months, and he would just flare and flare and flare.

Could it have been the background? He still flares but not as much.

He is almost 2!

Sorry you have a tail biter. What type of pellets do you feed him and and is that only 4 a day ? If he doesnt have a problem with getting bloated I would maybe try 3 pellets in the morning and 3 at night and see how he does with that. Does he have a cave type decoration ? If not that might be a good idea so he can go there if he feels stressed. Good luck !

Hey Perseus! Long time no see!

I give him aquaeon betta pellets, but plan on switching to NLS.
He does bloat, so i only give him 2, 2x a day. He is fasted once a week.

He did have a cave type decoration, but it was kinda rough and tore his fins.

Thanks, i will go by petsmart as soon as possible to get some NLS and some more decorations :)

When i put new decorations into the tank, should i do so at a water change and rinse them in the old water?
