White belly and "Rust" on Body (?)

I have a new boy who has been acting healthy (eating, swimming actively). Last night I fed him and after, noticed that his belly was protruding, and figured I had fed him too much. It looked whitish in color, too (he has a very dark colored body so I could tell). The protruding has gone down (I didn't feed him today), but it still appears white.

Also, I was looking closely at him under a light, and he has some "rust dustings" on top of his head and the top of his eyes. It reminded me of rust so I googled "betta rust" and sure enough, Velvet popped up (I had only ever heard of Velvet appearing as gold dustings).

I will post photos very soon. It is hard for me to tell with new bettas if they have something wrong with them, or if it just how they naturally look.

i have some fish that has velvet right now.... u cant miss it... under a dlash light its gold and glittery...

plus they will be flashing against objects and stuff...

I currently have all my boys in hospital tanks with Coppersafe and aquarium salt.

Junior is a dragon scale and he's always had gold on him (I used to think it was velvet when I first got him, but it's not, as it's just his coloring).

Does the one in the photo above look like he could have velvet to you?

Also, what do you mean by flashing against objects? Junior is currently swimming up and down really fast... but he might just be stressed that he's in a smaller tank than his 5 gallon...

I think it means trying to rub against things and darting up and down could be a sign of velvet also cause he is itching.

Perseusmom, do you have any experience with Velvet?

If it's only on his head, it's not Velvet.. Velvet is a parasite that will multiply and multiply. It's supposed to be all over his body.. Based on the itching, bloated and white belly, it seems to be internal parasites. How's his poo?

I just checked their poo by sucking it out with a turkey bastor.

Junior (who is my guy I've had for 4 months): dark brown/reddish poos. (Also the guy who has been swimming up and down rapidly ever now and then)

Shaka (the new guy in the picture): tiny yellowish strand of poo

Zen (the other new guy): I found one big poo from him that is brown and green. A few very tiny pieces of red things that I got out of the bottom of his tank with a turkey bastor

*Note: I feed them flakes at night as a snack. The flakes are green, red, and yellow.
