Horrible pet store

Fish Bowl Pet Express
in Temple, TX.


I went in there a couple days ago and it stunk.
All the small animals were obviously inbred and I didn't pay too much attention to the birds.

GET THIS THOUGH.
There is a huuggee room in the back for fish.
They have a BEAUTIFUL fish selection. 10 gallon tanks everywhere.
Except they have a little blue or red veiltail betta in every single 10 gallon tank along with the other fish.
Their fins are chewed up and just watching them for a minute, you can see the fish nip at the bettas fins.
I feel EXTREMELY bad for all of them.

I wish there was something I could do for the betta. :(

I prefer the bowl method cheaper fish, better quality only draw back os not being cleaned enough and bad idea my local petco takes great care of the fish crystal clean water plenty of water changes. Pet smart stacked so you can not see them all smaller cups. A 10 gallon makes a great home but not with the wrong fish you cou complain.

My petsmart takes EXCELLENT care of our fish and believe it or not, especially bettas! Not a dead fish ever!

I was just out at Petsmart and Petco, and both did not really take good care of their fish. However, Petsmart had the most GORGEOUS half-moon I've ever seen in my life. Like, he could be a show betta. I really wanted him but I knew I had to leave him there.

Pet store bettas are the ones breeders say we're not worth keeping that is why there is no show quality and cheap.

Actually.. No. that is not true CB. They are sometimes culls but not most of the time.. If they were culls then theyd be much more expensive. They are actually bought from large suppliers such as segrest farms.. and yes. I have discussed this with an LFS.. Ive discussed it with A Petco aswell. IMO/E they are rarely culls... They are bred specifically for the pet store market. No selective breeding.. Just colors
