What do you all use for toys, if anything. I'm considering buying her some toys. I know that my girl loves chasing her food that moves around from the filter flow. She gets very excited and playful around feeding time as a result. She also loves to poke and swim around the siphon tube when I'm cleaning her tank. What else can I use? I've heard of ping pong balls. Does anyone use them? Do your fish like them?
Hi there! I would like to suggest maybe a moss ball if your betta likes to push things around. I had a male betta halfmoon who would push around stones in his tank, along with a mossball and he would flare at it as well. He enjoyed himself with that so I'd really suggest that.
I think I'm going to try ping pong balls in my 5 divided. Those guys aren't afraid of anything and Bleu is a tail biter. The other thing, if you have a bare bottom tank, you can put a marble or a sinking ball for them to push around. Moss balls are a great idea! If you go to your local petco, they have some AWESOME japanese marimo balls, just MAKE SURE you ask them if they have an infestation of snails. Because they will hide it.
Someone a couple of weeks ago drew on their betta tank to get them to focus for a picture, I use that to amuse mine for 10-20 minutes a day. They don't normally flare at it, they just get really curious.
Mine likes to follow my little flashlight around the tank and he still looks for the light long after I stop...lol Also one of those laser light cat toys he likes somethings to follow it around. As for inside the tank he didnt go for the ping pong ball, but he loves his caves and the big rock I have with holes in he likes to swim though the same with his floating log.
i've had success with a few of our fish giving them a shallow bottle cap (plastic, of course) with a couple bloodworms in it, and then watching them push it around till they tip it over and get the treat inside. Sam, in particular, would spend a lot of time circling it like a shark before trying to peck at it.
