Questions!

Hi guys! I'll be buying my new boy today and need to ask a few things about his diet, and a live plant.

I currently have New Life Spectrum pellets and I noticed they're really tiny, how much of these should I feed him?

Also, I also bought one of those little plants that come in those little tubes from Petco and was wondering if this plant was okay for my betta? (I'll also be trying some API root tabs for the plant to make sure it flourish's and doesn't die immediately)

congrats on getting your new betta! NLS is one of the best foods!

Feed 2-3 pellets twice a day. Fast one day a week.

Not sure about the plants, but i have heard they sometimes arent fully aquatic.

excited!

Which plant did you get? Some are aquatic, some are not. It should have the proper name of the plant on the tube somewhere.

They often have plants growing in a tank (at say Petsmart and Petco) - those ones have a better track record of actually being aquatic

I'd say with the tiny pellets, 6ish (3 in am, 3 in pm) would be a decent meal?

Okay!

Also, the tube that the plant came in it was marked as aquatic and the leaves are very very soft, so I think he'll enjoy it, I asked the lady there if they had any java moss or fern but she didn't think they had that so I thought that plant looked the closest to it.

I bought a tube plant that was marked as aquatic and it was not. Didn't know better at the time. Petsmart salesdrone said they were great for aquarium use. Put them in Ghosts tank, and the end of the story is, one died, rotted, caused him to start flicking on everything, and now he seems sight impaired on one side. Mind you, it's been about 5 months since that happened and he is getting along just fine, but my plant ignorance did cause him harm. He has actual water plants now.

Oooh. I see. That's got me worried now >_< I really don't want to take the plant out now so I'll wait and see if he likes it or not or if the plant is actually causing him harm. I'll be sure to keep a close eye on him for these first few weeks, and if he doesn't like the plant I'll just take it out, plus, I suspect he'll be more interested in swimming through the purple fake one anyhow since its nice and soft c:

I've bought many of the "tube" plants from Petco and Petsmart. I've had them for about a year now with no problems...
