Eggs in ghost shrimp

So it looks like the ghost shrimp I got already has eggs in her. They are green, does this mean they were not fertilized? Have any of you had success with raising ghost shrimp fry? I figure I could just give them away if it was possible.

The fry are really hard to raise, as they need the tiny foodstuffs that aren't usually present in maintained aquariums. Infusoria may work, but as I understand it's hit-and-miss.

A more sure way to raise them would be to have a smaller separate tank for the mother to drop them in. That way they're 100% protected from predation by parents as well as other fish, and easier to try and feed them.

Yea, I have heard that a lot of times the fry don't stay alive, just figured what the heck, what's the harm in trying :) . I have a bowl I can put her in & then remove her once she drops them so she doesn't consume them, and I heard that some people use some hard boiled egg yolk for the fry to eat.

Go for it! You should keep a log of what you do so that others can repeat or change it up if they'd like to try!

The ghost shrimp larvaes are filter feeders and can only feed off food actially present in the water column. this is what makes it hard to keep them alive :(

For how cheap they are, it is more of a pain to set up a tank for the babies, unless you are going to be a full breeder, which is hard. They are cheap and not worth it to breed IMO.

Even if they don't survive, even if you lose money on trying to raise them, I think there's value in the experience itself. You learn from failures as much as from victories. And hey, if you succeed... just something to brag about!
