Fin rot or regrowth?

Pardon my ignorance! This is a pic of my Betta boy, who was attacked in a community tank. He is now in a 5 gal, with salt, colloidal silver and 1/2 dose of melafix. (He is also blind). (There was some ammonia in his tank yesterday, which I'd figured might have caused the rot).

I'd written yesterday about a mild case of fin rot. Now, I wonder if it is that, or actual regrowth?

Sorry...pic not the greatest. If there appears to be black at the bottom of the pelvic fins, it's due to the camera. His pelvic fins are jagged, but no discolouration.

Now, I'm quite certain it's regrowth. It's slightly more pronounced now than yesterday. Ends are all clear, and perfectly straight, smooth - unlike fin rot.

It's covering all fins and tail. Even his dorsal fin, which was torn almost in two, now has this clear 'film' which is almost sealing the tear. Fin rot would definitely not do that! :)

I'm thinking of stopping the Melafix (which was given at 1/2 dose), and continuing the salt and colloidal silver for at least a few more days.

Now I just gotta look into getting this boy a seeing eye dog!
