It's true that female bettas do pretty well when overstocked, it's just important to keep up with water changes. More fish means more ammonia.

Don't treat unless there is a symptom, it is best to keep any salt away from fish as much as you can. There are much easier things you can do to lower the chance of disease. I say get some Indian almond leaves and give each betta like 1/4 of one then put a whole leaf in the tank a couple days before release, that way it will help the healing process of nipped fins.

Is it a good idea to take out any other fish when starting a Sorority? I just have 1 octo and 1 frog in there ATM (No fish yet)
