Question Should I lower the pH?

I have been cycling my 55g tank for 6 weeks. There is plenty of driftwood in my tank along with an air stone. I plan to get a betta and some compatible tank mates. Should I lower the pH? I have Keta-Peat Nuggets (a combination of ketapang leaf, oak, and black peat) I can put in the filter.

pH 7.6
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 1
Nitrate 0
KH 80 (which is odd because a low number is usually associated with a low pH)
GH 120

Nah, lowering the pH with man-made items will put more stress on your fish. I have no idea on the GH, KH, or whatever so I have no idea on that. Your pH is fine so no need to add anything.

no! Dont mess with it, it can make your tank fluctulate and cause problems. My tank ph is upwards about 8.0-8.4, and my betta does great!

I also have an uber high hardness level

Yeah, it really isn't worth messing with. Especially with chemicals.

You can try to add almond leaves, aquarium wood, blackwater extract/peat moss to your tank to try and bring the ph down naturally and gradually, but charcoal filter media is pretty resilient to those methods.

7.6pH is perfect for growing nitrifying bacteria.

Do you have lots of aeration and plenty of filter flow?
