Narrow Leaf Microsword

I just purchased a few beautiful pots of narrow leaf microsword, and am unable to find any information on it. I'd like to make a "carpet" out of it, how do I go about doing this? Should I take it out of the pot and seperate it into little bunches? Or should I take it out and just stick it in without seperating? It's a beautiful plant and I'd really like to not kill it, so any info is much appreciated!

i found in order to have microsword carpet, you need high light... however without CO2 injections usually the tank will grow algae... give it a try. you can certainly hold it down with something to prevent it from floating.

I give plenty of Ferts, liquad CO2, and a 75 or in the other tank 25 and natural light the bulbs are floresant so should that be good?

no that would not be enough. you will need to inject actual CO2. excel is not a co2 substitue unfortunately.

you will also need high light, flourescent light is not neccessarily the same as high light...

A combination of highlight and CO2 will allow the plants to use the fertilisers.

additionaly you will need a good substrate.

Is sand a good one. In my ten my cardinals plants are doing well.

I actually have some microsword and unfortunately I have a gravel cap which means it won't carpet as well... I haven't had to use any C02 and I've had it for roughly 2 months now and it has been doing just fine. I use a 10 watt 6500k CFL bulb and I have not experienced any melting or wilting

I think you can make it work if you play your cards right :)

Also DO take it out of the little pot with the sponge thing and separate the plants into little bunches, it's a pain in the rear to plant and to work with but once you get it in it works really nice :)
