White spot question

I have a betta who has a white spot that he didn't have before. I think I see a second one now.

If it is ich, I read on another site that you can use salt and raise the temp. to 85 to help kill it. Does this sound like sound advice?

He is not sick otherwise except that I have noticed he is not "playing" as much.

My real question is it ok to raise the temp to 85. will no ill effect for my baby?

thanks for the help

sounds like ick. Slowly raise the temp. and add some AQ salt for now.

Is this very serious... Can I make him better? I watch him closely, so this just started recently.

Picture

It is the white spot in the middle that is new. The other brown spots are just his color.

hmmm the white spot is bigger than ich, as ich looks like salt is sprinkled everywhere. If it is ich, it is very contagious and spreads quickly.

It is reasonably noticeable even from a distance of a couple feet. Yeah, it didn't really match the description of ick however I did take out a magnifying glass to look at his scales and they are kind of whitish sparklish a bit. I have never looked at them before like this so I don't know if they always look like this, but it is something.

I don't think that is ick... Is that a lump or just kind of discoloration? If its a lump its possible it could be some kinda of fungal problem..

It doesn't appear to be more than discoloration.
