Smile Just Got a New Betta Fish--Help??

Hi, I just got a betta fish and I'm kind of confused on how long I should wait before putting it in its fish bowl. If anyone could help me that would be great

What kind of tank/size of tank do you have? Do you have a heater/filter, or just a tank at the moment?

Well it would be better if the bowl was already setup before getting a betta but if that is not the case I would put him in when the temperature is 78 degrees and water conditioner is in.. Get a heater if you do not already have one. If your tank is less than 1 gallon I suggest buying a bigger one which are found to be pretty cheap at walmart.. If it is 1 gallon change your water often or your fish will suffer lol. I suggest getting at least a 2.5 gallon in which one of my bettas is very content.

Also I don't have a heater yet. How much do these usually cost?

hi

bettas need a minimum of 2.5 gallons and a heater is MANDATORY. A betta needs the temp. to be a constant 80-82 degrees. They need weekly water changes, and the cup is ONLY A TEMPORARY "CONTAINER"

bettas cannot have plastic plants in their tanks, or any decor with sharp or rough texture/edges
