My baby betta ate something like this, do you think that's what killed him?

I don't know about what the white things are, but I'm betting if the scud was small enough, there's a good chance your fish ate it.

they could also be pond snail hatchlings...might wanna get an assasin snail in there to eat them before they get big. that, or some loaches if the tank is big enough for them.

If the OP has what I have it's not snail hatchlings. Every now and then when these white twitches get big enough my fish just eat them. My clumsy nerites roll over them too and eat them.

sainthogan- the only other living thing in that tank right now is a ghost shrimp. my scud was tiny. maybe it's molting and hiding?

i have the EXACT same thing, and made a thread about it. They are white and way smaller then a in head. They come from my moss balls and plants, and are know as CYCLOPS>

They are harmless!! I actually read somewhere that if a tank with plants dosent have them, something is wrong lol

They are part of the whole plant "ecosystem"
