It's been a long week, but it had a happy ending. Meet Mr. Squiggles!

As some of you know I lost my newest betta when he jumped out of his tank earlier this week.

I went to Petco with my boyfriend last night and came home with a new friend, a small CT who I named Mr. Squiggles.
He seems a little on the small side (although I'm used to looking at plakats) and I haven't gotten him to show an interest in food yet. I've tried frozen blood worms and brine shrimp.. I'm assuming this is because he's stressed in his new home..

I added new plants as well.

I took him out and put him in a separate container to take pictures because he spends all of his time in the back. He's not incredibly active and spends a lot of time along the back just kind of hanging out.

No flash was used in these shots.

Any advice for getting my new guy to show an interest in food? Also, how old do you guys think he is? He seems small and skinny but I could be wrong.

awww...he's a redhead! i might be mistaken but if they're redheads when they're young, that could be a sign that they'll marble as they get older.

Soak your food in garlic juice.

I got him to eat a few blood worms last night, I thawed them in garlic juice first. He doesn't see me as a food source yet, and would hide when I opened the hood.. when the blood worms landed on some of the background plants he would pick them off one by one. He had a full tummy when I went to bed last night.

My other betta wouldn't eat pellets, but who knows this guy might. I ordered some New Life Spectrum for him and that will come in the mail on Tuesday.

I also noticed him exploring his tank a little more, I think he's settling in finally.
