Sorority! (now with pics!)

yay! it's all set up and i'm giddy like a little kid! time for a photo dump!

the water and gravel have had a male betta (Genghis) living in there for several weeks, but he's got his nice little 5gal now, which allows us to give him more dense planting without overloading the space. the gravel and water are both bio-active and chemically stable, so we basically had a ready-cycled tank just waiting to be fished up. here's the tank this afternoon, with replanted trimmings from our NPT community tank:

and here it is with natural rocks and terra cotta pots added to give them privacy spots:

a little ingenuity from yours truly prevented us from having to balance them on top of each other for the ride home:

here they are, all floating in their cups, waiting to try out their new home:

and here are the girls:

Lafayette (purple CT)

Arwen (green CT)

Bathory (blue-green VT)

River Song (salamander VT)

Camilla Bodhi (cambodian CT, get the pun with her name?)

River and Bathory, about to be floated

the whole crew, taking over TARDIS's shelf

and here they are, checking out their new home (most are hiding in the canopy, but little Bathory is being a showoff)

and here are their new plants being QT'ed in Camilla's old temporary home (it's a peacock fern and a rosette sword)

thanks! i just turned out their light for bedtime, and so far there's been a little bit of light chasing (Bathory is a little bigger than the rest, so she's established herself as queen of the realm) but otherwise everyone's getting on swimmingly (so to speak!)

Beautiful! Can't wait to start my own. xD Peacock Fern isn't truly aquatic so watch out. And don't terra cotta pots mess with the pH? 0.o

neither have i....we've been using them in about half of our tanks for over a month and never had it affect one single fish. then again we're very diligent about rinsing them before insertion so they aren't covered in easily-dissolved clay dust. i feel kinda unappreciated for it though...they're all hanging out in the canopy and have yet to even touch upon our lovely decorating.

I have had one in my 5 gallon betta tank since March. No problems, no deaths. I bought some yesterday for my new NPT.
