The dogs would probably get out on their own.

While that may be the case, they would have no idea how to survive on their own. Plus they would have a much higher survivability rate while at your side than a fish would.

Don't get me wrong, I adore my fish, they're my scaly children. But it would be much more difficult to keep them alive during an emergency situation.

The only natural disasters that occur near me are fires and floods. Floods are not in my side of town because I'm uptown but fire is a real possibility. And I often think about an emergency plan.
If I was home, hands down I would go grab bunny. She lives in a pen and has no means of escape. As for the cat, I would bet he would run outdoors but on the side chance that he hid I know he would be in the bedroom bc whenever the alarm goes off (from cooking, yes I know.. It's very annoying) he gets put in the room.
If I was not home, and this is my greatest fear, I would trust the firemen get to them before the fire does. My local fire dept are notorious for saving pets they're awesome.

I think a betta has a good survival chance and our dog escapes and will follow us but guppy line too.

it would be tough for me to decide with the 5 betta but it'd be the one in my avy and i'll take my gecko with me also. thats thr only issue with fish, problematic to quickly evacuate any amount of bettas. though in a real rush it'd have to be my gecko as the priority easier to carry though i do have some small cricket boxes that can be used as evac containers.

I would probably take my bearded dragon since he would be easier to keep alive than my bird. I love all my pets though so it would really depend on which was closest. It would hard to take one of my fish or my ADF since they are in tanks that are way to heavy to carry.

I would save both of them:Get Blaze and Chokolatte a treat and get Perrys tank and run with a treat in my hand so Blaze and Chokolatte can run after it. And then we'll be safe.
