Got a new betta!!

I'm actually pretty excited. just a little bit ago, on an impulse buy, I bought a beautiful veil-tail male. I was walking past just to go look at the fish, and saw him. As I approached he began swimming around in circles.
His body is light blue with a slightly purple shimmer, and the part where his fins connect to his body is red, then it transitions into blue, with white on the outside. His (pectoral fins?) are white with a slightly blue shimmer to them. Unfortunately, I am staying at my Grandmas house with my Aunt tonight, so he's going to have to stay in his cup for the night.

We continued looking at the other bettas and, my aunt noticed that they had baby bettas. I ended up convincing her to get one. (i'm such a bad influence :D) anyway the one she picked, as far as we can tell, we know its a plakat. It has a split tail. Possibly a double tail? We are having a hard time telling the gender. Can anyone help with that?

Sorry for the long post! I'll post pictures of my new little guy once I get to my house tomorrow.

That's great!!!I have been wanting to get a baby betta for some time but don't have an empty tank.

Yeah the baby is adorable. pretty sure it is a plakat because of its fins under its chin. I've only seen fins like that on plakats. And my betta I'm pretty sure is at least part elephant ear. his pectoral fins are really big. bigger than any betta I have ever had.

That looks like a halfmoon double tail to me. Nice fish! :)

He is beautiful. I feel so luck to have found him. I suspect he may have some elephant ear betta in his bloodline, because his pectoral fins are pretty big. Also, unlike my past bettas, he is very active. and seems very happy to be in his new tank :)

One day after he got into his new tank! (again sorry for the large size....)








He's still swimming around happily. much more active than any other betta any one in my family has ever had :) However, he seems to have no idea what blood worms are and when i try to give him one, he will look at it, swim a little closer, then zoom to the opposite side of the tank and swim along the bottom. :P
