Help me decide....

So I have two bettas in a 10 gallon divided and they are quite happy. On one side, there is Skidz who HAD a nice veiltail but wanted to be a little more short-finned. More like A LOT more short-finned. He is healing up ok, with clean water every week and blowing bubble nests every night (really wants to prove himself now lol).

So I was wondering if I should give him a companion on his side of the tank or both sides to liven things up a little. I've done research on ADFs although my mom isn't to big on the idea lol, and I know shrimp are a 50/50 shot. Are there any other companions besides those 2 and a snail? Something available at pet stores?

The tank is heated 78 degrees, filtered (Whisper 10i), and divided into 2 5 gallon sides.

Those aren't sold at the pet stores over here lol. Is there anything besides snails? I might just get an apple snail but I'm not sure if that would keep him interested. Someone prove me wrong..

A Betta should not pay too much attntention to a tank are.

I can't offer you advice on tankmates, I'm very inexperienced in that area. If your main goal is to keep your bettas more "entertained" then you could always give him some really cool decorations to explore or try to train him to swim through a hoop or to jump out of the water to take food off of your finger. Even rearranging his tank might make him more interested in his surroundings. Sorry if that's not what you're asking.

My betta has a snail in his tank, and honestly he could care less.

Some types of bottom feeders or cleaner fish are ok with bettas. PM OFL or anothe mod before you buy one though just to make sure its betta safe. Hope this helped.

if you want a community tank for your own pleasant viewing ;)
you need to cycle the tanks first.

you can have a small school of cories. and perhaps some other, not do colourful, non nippy fish.

oh wait... you have two bettas?

In that case stick to shrimps or snails...

I agree. The Betta ignore my dwarf corys and they do a nice job keeping the bottom clean. Cute lil guys too that are entertaining but I suggest 4+.

Well thank you for all the advice but 4 would be a lot especially in one 5 gallon side... I might just try out shrimp..
