Cool small tank for betta

my dream long and thin for him to run around in and play, that stacks 2 high...

reality...
tight on money...

so...
what filter/light/airarter do you put with the mr. aqua 3 gal tanks

betta, shrimp, ?? and live plants

other tank ideas?

bowl seems kind of mean (though he's happy and bubble nesting)

There is a little 2.5 gallon tank, called the Aqueon Mini Bow, and it's pretty nice, comes with filter and I have it at the moment, and It is working great, I am not used to small tanks, I usually go for at least a 3 gallon size, but typically I would prefer a 5 gallon..there are plenty of options, pending financial flexibility..check on Amazon.com, or E-bay, Petco, or Petsmart has a few nice ones.

Petco has the 5gal Aqueon Mini Bow on sale right now! Funds wise, they are only $5 more than the 2.5gal verison!

I just purchased two of them for my guys and I'm in love with them!

i have bettas for long time and i have 2.5 gall and 5 gall tanks. And for 2.5-4 gall tank filters are not necessities. A lot of times less water movement is better for betta.
You can do 1-50 and 1-100% water changes a week and your betta will be happy.
Live plant quarantine first because they can carry diseases. Just put in the water NO CONDITIONER for a few weeks. Wisteria may die;sword and jave fern may survive.

The same with betta i would quarantine it first make sure it healthy so you not ending up disinfecting everything.
Shrimp - he might want to eat the shrimp.

Critter carriers at petsmart are 2.5 gallons and around 10 dollars. You can get a cheap filter for $15 and a heater for about $12. You don't even have to get a filter. You could just do frequent water changes and that would be fine.
