Pecan leaves???

ok so I know that IAL and oak leaves are supposed to be really good for healing bettas with fin issues (as well as other stuff) but I cant find a damn oak leaf to save my life right now, everything is a stinking pecan tree (welcome to texas lol) I even scoped out all my neighbors yards! I cant find any info online about using pecan leaves for betta but I did read that they contain high amounts of tanic acid which is what is supposed to be so good about the IAL and oak leaves right? will it make my fish sick? I was also thinking of putting a few broken pecan limbs in with him. hes in a makeshift hospital tank right now with AQ salt b/c he managed to tear his poor little fins all to hell last night. I just want to heal him as fast as I can so he can get back to his real tank. he looks so sad in there. hes acting perfectly healthy but u can tell he wants his house back

Googled it.. Found someone who uses it in there Shrimp tanks.. I would try it out as long as its pesticide free.. also.. in texas all I can find is oak leaves, lol.

yeah out in the country its everywhere but here in my town everyone has stinking pecan trees. but thanks for the answer I think Ima give it a whirl...everything I found said it was high in tannic acid which is what the IAL is used for so....

Yeah.. I live in the country too.. But there's only oak leaves and mesquite trees. In places like seguin there's tons of pecan trees and in certain parts of austin

ok I put in the pecan leaves and one small branch (with AQ salt as well) and so far so good. he actually seems really happy in there now lol. Im have a friend bring me some oak leaves in the next day or so but for now this is working. I tried to get some pix of him but he was having too much fun hiding in his leaves so I guess that means I better get on the ball and order him some IAL for when he goes back into his real tank. here are the pix (and a video) just cuz lol...u can see some of the damage in a few of the pix, I cant wait for him to heal up cuz he has the longest prettiest rays. I was so sad when I saw his fins messed up last night I almost cried!
