Yes, as far as I know...I think it is just for "aquarium" salt. I'll have to ask. I use canning salt. Cheaper and cleaner :D

yes aquarium salt but since BlueJWebb already started him on medications it need to be finished. So BlueJWebb stay with meds now ,you need to finish it first. You always can use aquarium salt after you finish with medications.
Can you remind what medications are you using?

API Triple Sulfa. I put him in it last night. As I've said before I'd rather not use aquarium salt. He doesn't do well in it.

The reason i would recommending to use medications first because bothe medications and salt you can use only for certain period of time. So if medications don't help you continue to use salt for 10 more days.

Well I can confirm that it is indeed fin biting and not fin rot. He just took a giant chunk out of his fin right in front of me. So I don't think he needs meds. He's been on them for a total of one day - would it be safe to stop treatment and just use the salt?

pic

Here's a pic of his fin just before I watched him chomp it off.

The split is already starting to heal too.

If it's just fin biting and not finrit I'd recommend slaquarium salt and clean, warm water.
