Reputable Breeders on AquaBid?

I am pretty new to owning betta fish. I currently have two: one from Walmart, one from a local pet store. I am thinking about getting another fish, unfortunately local pet stores have a very limited selection I don't know of any breeders near Columbus Ohio.

Anyway, I have seen some really amazing fish on AquaBid but I can't pay the shipping cost from Thailand. Does anyone know of a good American based breeder on AquaBid?

Shipping a fish inside the US can still be expensive. This time a year you probably want to do express which is around $30. Karen Mac Auley(Martinismommy) only ships her fish express.

Have you looked in the classified section on here to see if anyone is selling any of their stock?

Martinismommy is not selling on AB and the way she's been selling I doubt she will ever have to list there again.

And PitGurl is right, you have to consider shipping costs to you.

There are some sellers on ebay, too. I just bought a fish from pdxspirit on ebay. I don't know about form, but I received a very young, very healthy fish that was bred here. He's beautiful and the communication with them was fantastic. They seemed genuinely concerned about the fish's welfare.

This is an interesting question, though that I've often wondered about myself. . . what do breeders do with their fish? They surely can't keep them all, yet, there are not a whole lot of American breeders selling on the internet. If anyone out there knows, I'd be interested in finding out.

From what I've heard from breeder...

Some fish are culled but feeding to other fish
Some are sold to petstores for cash or store credit
Some are donated to charities

@Sashy: Look for Hopdiggitty on AB http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/aucti...ler&Hopdiggity . She's a transhipper in the US and has a lot of very nice fish right now listed... they are not bred by her but they are already imported from Thailand. She also offers Priority Shipping for $10 but I would suggest to ask her for a heat pack thiss time of year, should be extra $ but not much.
