setting up 20L

I am getting ready to set up my 20L sorority since i have been draging my feet on it I was wanting some suggestions on filtration, and such.

It will be NPT, I know that i should be able to cycle pretty fast once I get more plants, I haven't ordered anything just yet.

I was at petsmart and was wondering if any one has used the
Marina Slim S20 power filter in any of their tanks and do you like it?
i was going to go with an aquaclear30 but i don't know if you can adjust the flow.
I have never really kept any fish besides fry tanks that needed calm waters.

Should I skip the HOB filter all together and go sponge?

as for stock
I am planning this to be as many as 6-8 girls with a school of 7-10 pygmy cories or 6-8 panda cories
and possible 3 platties but depends on how many female bettas i end up with.

I am not in any hurry to set up, I just figure i can move the platties to another tank once the 20L is cycled, and I don't want to add corries to an unestablished tank. also some mts would be cool.

plants are still undecided but definalty gonna have hornwort and anacharis.

If he/she really means 20L and not 20 gal. then it most likely going to be way over the limit on fish.

I'd say go with the aqua clear. They are adjustable. I have one in my 10G shrimp tank and aside from having to rinse out the sponges every few weeks, it works great.

Only add MTS if you have sand. They have this annoying habit of multiplying like rabbits.

Honestly getting started is the hard part. Having to QT 5 ladies for a week (or longer!) in individual containers, usually smaller. Sometimes needing daily water changes is the difficult part. Or so I found.

I have a 29 tall. Currently stocking 1 BN 7 females and 6 pandas. With one fan shrimp. And so many live plants I had no trouble adding the corries. (aside from feeding issues which is another issue all together!)

I use airstones in my 20 long tanks. Eventually I want to make sponge filters for all on my divided 20 longs.
