Honestly, should I get another?

I have 3 tanks set up. 1 cycled, divided 10 gallon with 3 spots available for males. 1 cycled, divided 5 gallon with 2 males. 1 3.5 gallon currently cycling with 1 male. One male in the 10 gallon died 1 week ago. I don't know the cause, but the other two males are fine.

In the 5 gallon, one of the males has a high energy level and is always flaring at the male across the divider, no matter how much cover I put in there. I plan to put him in the 3.5 gallon once it cycles.

So I would still be left with a vacant spot in the 10 gallon. I hate to take the extra divider out since I've worked so hard to get everything set up to hold 6 males.

After mourning the loss of my favorite male, I'm just now starting to get excited about the thought of getting a new one. But I want to know if I really should. Should I?

I know this is a betta forum, but 10 gallon is enough for a goldfish, you could try out a fancy goldfish or a normal one, for variety.

Or you could get another betta, but then you have to think about what color you might want.

Not true at all. They grow to be over a foot long so at least a 55 gallon. Please don't give "information" until you research.

little a 10 gallon is not enough for a goldfish comets grow 14 inches fancies 6 to 8 inches I would put undivide your ten and put the other in I have a Betta in a 10 gallon and he is healthy and active plus less cleaning.

And some smaller fancies can live in 30.

Let me clear this up, the 10 gallon is divided to hold 3 males. I now only have 2 in there. That's where the vacant spot is...

sorry to prove you wrong, but 1 fancy goldfish needs ATLEAST 20 gallons, and 1 Comet or "feeder" goldfish needs ATLEAST 55 gallons.

If you want another male, get one.

it depends, you can always undivde that part of the tank so each betta has 5 gallons....
