Opinions on his form?

I am NOT breeding this fish :)

I just wanted to see what you guys had to say about his color, form and finnage.

He is under an inch right now, and i got him from Petsmart. I would never breed LFS bettas, i would always get breeding pairs from a breeder.

Again, i am not going to breed him, just would like some opinions :)

He looks beautiful, white, with a sort of rosey cheek completion.

Anal fin could be straighter, this fish came from a pet store fish we spawned. His father was bought at a LFS. This fish won Best of Show halfmoon male in the new breeder class.

Edite: He is a rosetail however, which is no bueno, but he can hold his excessive fins and flare just fine.

I don't see why you shouldn't breed this guy. Yes he has bent top line. But that is normal for a DT. IMO he has great fins - upringht dorsal, 180* spread caudal, fairly equal anal, wide ventrals. I would breed him to a steel blue/cambodian with a lot of irid.

His color (cellophane) could be cleaner - he has black smudges on his body. I love the irid sheen on his fins. Other than that, he looks great.

Btw, what do you mean by straight anal? I don't see bent rays - wavy, yes, but not bent

I think he means that the anal shouldn't have shorter rays at the base, like the dorsal shouldn't have stubby short front rays..

Also.. IMO this is a great fish. I don't see why you wouldn't spawn him

It's very common in DT, the anal fin doesn't extend forward it hangs back.



I know this is not for doubletail but this is what I look for when I breed in doubletail. As far as the anal is concerned.


I will attach some of the Doubletail I bred in the past. Look how their anal fins go forward.

Paired with the proper female I dont see why you couldnt breed him. A nice hm cellophane female would make some lovely fry. I agree in the above on color could be cleaner ( I think he might marble on you) and form. I am not sure I saw it mentioned but the first few rays in the front of the anal and dorsal could be longer but that is a minor fault.

These are two very general standards, I don't even fully understand what they mean by this. Can anyone clarify?
