I have another 10 gallon that has started cycling. It'll be several weeks still before it's done (I seeded it with a decoration from the original tank, so hopefully that is speeding things up), but I'll see about moving the neons over once it's done. I had planned on dividing it for bettas, but if the community tank needs changed, I'll do that instead.
I did the water change, and nitrates are down to somewhere around 15-20 ppm after letting it sit for an hour to give the water time to mix well. I don't mind doing extra changes. They really don't take very long at all. I just don't want to kill off the biological filter. It's doing a great job, so I'd rather deal with diatoms than nitrite.

Yeah, pygmies are so small I have to search around the gravel to make sure they are all still in there and alive! They're ridiculously tiny little cuties.
