I am so sorry, but I almost drenched the keyboard at work reading that. Too funny. DYAC at its best.
That faux driftwood would make the best tree, I must agree with that. But as for other ideas... Not coming up with anything at this moment. Still trying to figure out my own tank.
Plant suggestions or stocking suggestions? Fr fish, for something a bit different, but not too crazy, how about some female betta imbellis?
Or a center fish with something around it like micro rasboras or oryzias woworae, or something a little more uncommon? Personally, I like fish that aren't bred to be very colorful like guppies (even though I still love fish that are) and ones that are peaceful to watch, a little more natural
three imbellises (imbelli?) one males, two females, two apple snails, four cory cats and a smallish school of black neon tetras. maybe a couple of ADF too. decorate it with live java moss on the driftwood, stacked flatrock on top of soil for substrate, dwarf hairgrass growing between the rocks, and a lush thicket of java ferns or amazon swords against the back glass that'll grow big enough to droop down and form a nice big canopy. fore-and midground plants do a mixture of wisteria, anubias nana, and maybe some rosettes.

Ooh! And shrimp!
Ciroc, my male betta, is going to be the center fish. I do like the atriped and spotted micro boras not too sure about the oryzias woworae. I want something different but I loove the natural look with a bit of color, I LOVE color!
and shrimp and some type of snail was alreaqdy on the list :3
