EWWWW Algae!

So as I did my 100% water change today... I found my decor covered in algae and my tank covered in it :( how can this happen I just did a 100% water change a week ago and it wasn't that bad. How can I get rid of it? I tried scrubbing the decor but it didn't help much

Its a 3 gallon tank, with java fern, IAL, pothos roots and some floating plant that I have no idea what it is

algae can do that. ive had that happen in my tanks but luckily not on my ornaments just on the walls of my tank so an algae scrubber solved this problem. every time you do a water change it is always a good idea to scrub the walls of your tank and ornaments with an algae scrubber, i use a toothbrush on my ornaments to scrub it good. how long is your light on for? maybe it has had too much light?

Nerites and I have bad experiences together. :(

I guess my light is on a lot most of the day. I will try scrubbing and see what happens.

I know Nerites are pretty much the only snail that can be in a 3 gallon... Is there any other snail?

It probably means you are getting too much light. I know my one boys tank is like that. A nerite WILL love the set up.

Alternately you could get some floaters like duckweed/salvinia/frogbit. They are supposed to out compete algae.

Do you have your light constantly on? If so, it could be a result of all that algae. Is your plant large? it could be producing extra Oxygen, also leading to the algae..?
