Feeding Over Weekend

I was at Petco a couple of weeks ago and I made the mistake of passing the Betta display. I already have two guys, so I don't need a third. :/ I saw this little red guy in his cup staring at me with those eyes, the only one that was looking at me, but I walked away. Fast forward to Thursday night, I ran into the same store to pick up something and saw the same guy there, giving me the same look. I broke down and purchased him.

My question is, I am a Kindergarten teacher and I thought I could set him in my classroom. Since he has everything in his tank all setup, I would just have to purchase a Master Test kit, vacuum, and pellets to keep in my classroom. He is set up the same as my personal bettas, 5g Mini Bow tank, heater, filter, etc. However, since we don't have school on Saturday and Sunday, I am worried about feeding him.

Right now, I feed my two boys 3-5 pellets a day. The new one I picked out on Thursday has been on the same schedule. I leave work around 5:00pm Friday night, so would he be ok with not eating again until Monday morning at around 8:00am?

I am new to fish, but I have been reading some owners fast their bettas one day a week, but this is two days. Any insight would be appreciated.

just feed on friday after noon and monday mornings. he should be fine

I work in a school and have 2 betta at work and always go the weekend without feeding. No problems. Even three day weekends dont seem to negatively effect them. Long breaks might be an issue. Hopefully you can find someone to feed him or take him home during those times.
