I haven't heard of anyone housing males together but someone on this forum has six females in a 10 gal. It's risky. Gotta get enough plants and hiding spaces and females that will tolerate eachother.

BettaBaby does not recommend housing females together.

arent females fine together? i thought it was just males that had to be seperated.

Not always fine together. If you put them in too small a space, they will fight.

females need ample room and hiding spots.. as well as need plenty of them as tiger barbs do there are constant struggles for dominence... if 1 beta leaves the tank or dies etc they redo the dominence... i think u need a school of 5 to make this work although it is risky in anything smaller then a 20 gallon as far as i know... i could be wrong and correct me if i am.

yeah well the guy i knew had a huge tank. not sure how big but i know it was bigger than 55 gal.
