10 gallon - friends for a betta

I have a second 10 gallon cycling. I originally planned on putting a betta in the first 10 gallon, but it ended up getting stocked with 6 neon tetras and 6 pygmy cories, so I do not want to push things by adding another fish.

So I thought, I'll divide the second 10 gallon and get two bettas. Now I am thinking maybe I will just find some friends for the tank, instead, and see how my new red salamander HMPK does in a community tank once that one is cycled. I have a 2.5 gallon for him to start out in, but I'd love to see him swimming around with some buddies. :D

I could put the cories over in the other tank, but they seem pretty content where they are with the tetras. I've even seen them playing in the filter stream together. Plus it's hard to catch those guys! LOL. I think I'd rather find some different tankmates to put in with him. Maybe something with a neat pattern or a fun attitude, but still betta safe.

Nothing but betta for 5 and Pygmy cories do well.

I do not mean to be rude, but it seems you never actually read my posts before replying. It is a 10 gallon, not a 5 gallon. As I mentioned, I would rather keep my pygmy cories in their current tank, and I would like something different for my second tank.

Shrimp, maybe? White clouds? Snails? Some Algae eaters?

I thought it said Ten divided which is five sorry if it is a 10 pygmy cories and possibly nean tetras please do not add WCMM they prefer cold water and no algae eater Chinese algae eaters grow a foot smallest plecos are five inches and Otos need twenty gallon.

I have an albino BN pleco in my ten gallon (it is a little overstocked right now-my friend surprised me with the baby pleco and I have no were else to put it). They are a bit messy but if you have it with just your betta it should do fine. They only grow to about 5 inches so it won't be too big. The only downside is that it produces so much waste! But nothing a gravel vacuum won't solve!

5 inches is too big for a 10 they need 30 gallons.

I already said I know it is overstocked...I have no where else to put him right now. I appreciate the info but I am only allowed one 10 gallon tank in my dorm room and he has no where else to go. (Besides he is just a baby right now, only 1.5 inches so he will be fine for now).


[But my dad has kept them before and they do just fine with bettas and pretty much all other fish. Just depends on which kind you get!]

Size is irrelizant if you do not have the tank get rid of the fish that simple.
