Poor guy :( You said that you had him 3 years, it is possible he's getting old, but I don't know for sure. You can private message oldfishlady or sakura8 and they might be able to tell you more.

So, our beta is still alive. He eats well and is even frisky though not swimming well. We did ten days of salt and heat, one week of tetracycline and now almost done with one week of Maracyne 2. His top fin has not grown back, and he is still largely covered in this white patch. He has trouble swimming or getting to the surface and remains in one plant that keeps him upright, but after a water change (once a day) he remains at the bottom for a while, then swims and lays on a leaf hammock, as in this photo. Then back into his plant he goes. Any thoughts? Parasite? There is no fuzziness like a fungus...
