Tumors...

When I look back on the bettas I have owned (pet store ones), most of mine had to be put down because of large tumor growths on their bodies. Has this been common for anyone else, or is something in my water? O.o

I had that issue just recently with my fishy Windu.... I dont think tumors can be caused by something in the water.

It's possible... People get tumors (cancer) from bad water. Do you live in a house with lead pipes possibly?

I do not, but it has happen to most of my fish that I had when living in Canton, MI. I now live in Grand Haven and the pet store betta I have now has a tumor on his right eye. Its not pop-eye. I was treating it for that, but no luck and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger to where his eye in no longer attached and he is blind in that eye now :(

As of right now, he is still eating and flaring at himself, but he is not swimming all that well. Its like the growth is keeping him afloat.
