does "new" driftwood need QT?

we're going to be buying some driftwood for our sorority this afternoon, and i just needed to know. if it's "new" and hasn't ever been in a tank before, does it need quarantining? or should it just be rinsed and placed like a regular tank decoration?

IMO-you wouldn't need to QT the new driftwood...just a good scrubbing/rinse-unless it doesn't sink or weighted somehow. Then you might need to either weight it or soak it until its water logged- so it will stay put. You can also have heavy tannin issues with new wood, however, this depends on the curing process it went through. Sometimes the new driftwood can release really heavy tannins-but, water changes will take care of that and/or adding some fresh activated carbon short term to remove the tannins.
