Black gravel

I love the black gravel with the little colored gravel put in it. Anyone else use that?

we use black gravel in a lot of our tanks, along with colored micro-pebbles for contrast. it's a really lovely way to substrate a tank. just be sure to sift it first, the ground-up "sand" in between the gravel can cloud your water pretty badly otherwise.

I like it better than the other colors. Pity they only have it in 5 lb bags

My fiance has that in his betta's 5 gallon. It looks really pretty...much more attractive than plain black IMO :)

I used to be big on black gravel until I found black sand for even cheaper.

This is what it looks like in one of my tanks.

I don't vacuum it he has very big poops, I feed him my cull betta fish. You don't need to vacuum sand as much, just change the water, the granules are so small it keeps everything on top.

polo, your tank is gorgeous! Tommorrow i am getting the white/or black sand from petco to switch my old "rainbow" gravel out of. I cant wait to see how great it looks! How often should i stir it becasue of gas pockets?

excited!

it is going in my 2 yr VT's cycled 10 gal.
