How to know how many pellets to feed?

I know this topic has probably been beaten to death, but I want to make sure my wife isn't overfeeding these fish.
We're using Omega One Betta Buffet pellets. It says on the package to feed the fish as much as they can eat in a minute. The thing is, these fish eat so fast that they'd eat the whole package in a minute and these fish have NO CONCEPT of how much they can eat.
How many pellets should my wife put in there for them and what kind of feeding schedule should she follow?

People here generally feed them 2 - 4 for big pellets per feeding and 5-8 for small pellets.

I agree with the person above. ^^ HOWEVER, 6+ pellets are a lot. I suggest 6 as maximum for small pellets.
Bettas are pigs to heart so you'll have to keep them on a strict diet.

Especially crowntails. Their brain lacks the "full" signal, bc of genetics.

These pellets look tiny, about the size of a betta eye. So about 6 a day? How many at each feeding?

If you are doing 6 a day, you would do 3 twice a day. Keep an eye on their bellies, if they are getting really big at a feeding, then maybe go down to 2 at each feeding. If they don't really look like they've been fed, you could do 4 at each feeding.
But if you say they are the size of an eye, than those are the big pellets, the small pellets are much smaller than that. Keep in mind that a betta belly is only about the size of its eye, so much more than that is going to be overfeeding.

How are they "dumber" then the other tail types? I have never heard anything wrong with their brain function.

I feed both my boys Omega One. I feed them both about 3-4 pellets per feeding. If I feed 4 in the morning, only 3 at night. 3 in the morning, 4 at night. So in total they get about 7 pellets per day. But, that is just my fish. Feed them until their bellies get kind of round. Not a lump, but rounded.
