Does it have a temperature control or merely an unmarked dial control? If the room your betta is in suffers high temperature fluctuations, an unmarked dial control might create problems. For example, a heater on a fixed setting that heats a tank to 78 degrees in a 64 degree room will likely overheat the same tank when the room temperature is at 80 degrees.

It's adjustable :) Once it reaches the desired temperature, it will shut itself off. I've tested it and it's been working fine so far; no overheating yet.
