Lilly plant growing upside down

The title pretty much sums it up. I bought a Lilly bulb about a week ago and dropped it in my tank. It was doing great until a few days ago. The plant is on it's "bottom", but the roots have come from underneath it and are growing up towards the top of the tank. I assumed they would push there way into the gravel like other plants do, but no, it has a mind of it's own. Is it ok if I push the roots down myself or will I hurt the plant? Will it figure it out on its own and the roots will go the correct way?
I'm not very familiar with aquarium plants, but I have had regular bulb plants and they've never done this before.

Flipping it over will make it work it's way towards the top much faster. No harm and no foul.

Well, I did that, and the roots changed direction and are growing upwards again, at least I'm assuming they're roots. Well, I guess, I'll just let it figure out how to grow on its own.
