Guess what I found at Petsmart...?

I found an impostor betta

I was heading over to the cups and i noticed one of the "females" in one of the female cups was a really weird shape...longer, thin body and a really flat & wide head. When I picked it up, I saw that it was...this...



Obviously not a betta at all!

Anyway, I brought it home with me...because how often do you find something weird like this happening? That, and I'm not sure how well it'll survive in a cup...


Does anyone know what kind of fish it is? I think it looks kind of like a killifish...it has a green-ish sheen to its body and red tipped fins. Here are some more pictures of it:

I don't think it's a female guppy. Unless we're thinking of different fish.

It's almost 3 or 3.5 inches long, basically the same size as my bettas...never seen a female guppy that big before.

Plus the anal and pectoral fin are a totally different shape than the female guppies we have, and the dorsal is much farther on its back too.

Plus the stomach of a female guppy tends to be a little more rounded, doesn't it? Even when it's not gravid. This fish has a very sleek & thin body.

A user helped me ID it. They said she's a golden wonder killi...googling it, they look exactly like my mystery fish.

Pretty pleased that I was able to guess...also really shocked that, of all things, they decided to cup a killifish...especially since they have never been sold here. Ever.


Anyway, I'm going to be booting my pair of male guppies out of my 10 gal and into my dad's guppy tank and moving my killi to the 10 gallon. I'll most likely upgrade her to 15 gallons once I set up my 20 gal tank.
