how should I quarantine a new one?

I have a 1.5 gallon qt tank, but I have no way of heating it. I plan on getting another male to add to my 10 gallon. Should I just float him in his cup in the 10 gallon and do 100% daily water changes? how long?

I would invest in a small heater for the QT tank, you'll probably be using it in the future and will need one anyway. QT at least a week. I do 100% water changes every 3 days.

Yea I was afraid I'd have to do that. :) I have a non-adjustable one, but it heats it up too much.

Good luck with qt! BTW, why did you post the word 'bump'?

The forum sorts by threads with the newest posts. So it was "bumped" to put it near the top again so people would see it and respond.

So I shouldn't quarantine in a cup? I don't have a petsmart or petco to find a small enough heater that would safely heat 1.5 gallons.

If that is your safest option, go ahead, just make sure there is a lid with a hole so he can't jump out and be careful to prevent contaminating the tank with water from the cup.

The only other option I have right now is to put a glass vase (.75 gallon) into the 10 gallon. But there's a sticker on the bottom of the vase that I'm paranoid about having being in the same water that the other males in the 10 gallon share. (It's a 10 gallon divided 3 ways)
