Green algae

I have a 2.5 gal betta tank. I've noticed some greenish algae on the glass and was wondering the cause. Green algae accumulated fast in the past on the filter cartrideges, and also on some decorations after changes, but this is the first I've seen on glass. The betta seems healthy, eats fine, and the water is otherwise clear. Is there any reason to be concerned?

What kind of light do you use and how long per day do you keep it on?

Thanks for replies. I'm not sure what a lot of the things in the first post mean. I do do water changes regularly though. I also use a regular lift for the tank, which I have left on about 9-10 hours per day. Could that be a reason? There are also no natural plants in the tank.

Meaning I do 25% water changes every 1-2 weeks, and vaccuum the rocks for debris during that time. So is this something that is harmful?

in a 2.5 gal, you should be doing 1 50% and 1 100% per week, using gravel vaccum.

Thanks...I will do that

Still, the stuff appears relatively quickly after the changes I currently do, including on the filter cartridge and the decorations...so can someone answer me about this being harmful? Obviously it doesn't go away even after the cleanings I currently do. The fish seems fine, but I just want to know.
