Last weekend I went to the pet store to pick out a new CT. All of them were pretty much this pinkish/purplish/red that I always see when their betta stock goes down. The owner said a new shipment was coming in this week, so I decided to wait. I went today to check out all the new ones and found 2 that I really liked. They had a lot of dark blues and whitish/yellow colors, but I was looking for something bright and unique. I found a blue one with white fins, along with another blue with red fins. Both were flaring like crazy. Then I saw this one. It was one of the ones that was from the last shipment, so it was there last weekend. He really didn't flare, but he stared down the others like he could have. He was different than the others. He had a purple frosting near the base of his fins where the others had turqoise. I picked him, but I couldn't believe I had waited for the new shipment, only to pick one that was there last weekend. Really!? Picking out bettas is SO HARD! Especially when you only have room for one. I would love to go on a spree and pick whatever catches my eye. But I had to pick one that I knew I would like right away. While the white and blue one was pretty, his face was white. When I've gotten white faced ones before, they've always had to grow on me. So, here he is!
He's floating in a cup, in a divided 10 gallon. Yes his tail is bitten off, but I haven't decided whether I want to put him in salt yet. I have a qt tank, but no way to heat it.
Checking out his future home.
He doesn't seem like he feels all that great, but hopefully daily water changes and a constant water temp will help him. He attacked the metal clip that's holding his cup to the side of his tank, but still no flaring. It's like he wants to, but...
